The Company Portal: What is it?

The Company Portal is part of the Microsoft Intune suite. You can use it to browse company provisioned apps and services. To get started, you can search for the Company Portal on the Search Bar as shown below:

On entering the company portal, you will be greeted by the Home page. Here you can notice the sidebar, the notifications button, the user profile button, the recently published apps, and details pertaining to the current device.

To browse all the apps within the catalogue, you can click the see all button or the option from the sidebar.

You will receive notifications every time an update has been made available, a device status has been changed, and with other status updates pertaining to apps made available through Intune.

Apps

The Apps section displays all available software that has been provisioned for your CERN device. These can include required apps (automatically installed), available apps (optional), and recommended tools.

You can:

  • Browse apps by category.
  • Search for specific apps.
  • Click to install or launch.
  • View details about the app, such as version, size, publisher, and permissions.

Tip: Apps marked as "Required" may install automatically or need to be manually installed to ensure compliance. These will be handled by Intune in the background. You can have a view of such apps on the Downloads and Updates page as well.

This section helps you manage the installation and update process for apps.

You can:

  • Monitor installation status (Queued, Installing, Installed, Failed).
  • Retry failed installations.
  • View available updates and apply them.

Devices

The Devices page lists all your devices that are enrolled with Intune under your CERN account.

Here, you can:

  • View compliance status (Compliant / Noncompliant).
  • Sync your device manually with the Intune service.
  • Rename or remove your device (if permitted by policy).
  • View OS version, last check-in time, and security settings.
  • Wipe Date of an Intune provisioned Device.

Your User Profile

The User Profile tab gives you a summary of your account details and device management status.

You can:

  • View your CERN account name and email.
  • Manage User Profile (On Browser too!)

FAQs

Q: I cannot see the Company Portal on my Device?
A: Your account may not have the requried licence for Intune. To do so, kindly raise a ticket at Service Now.
