What is Microsoft Visio Plan 2?
Visio Plan 2 is a subscription for creating and sharing professional diagrams, including both the online and desktop versions of Visio. It provides access to a wider range of templates, shapes, and features, plus advanced capabilities like data linking and collaboration tools and integrations with other Microsoft products.
While the online version offers cloud-based diagramming capabilities, Visio Plan 2 expands upon that with desktop functionality and more robust features, making it suitable for users requiring more advanced diagramming and integration capabilities.

How to request a MS Visio Plan 2 License?
The desktop version of Visio Plan 2 is only available on Windows platforms.

Installing Visio for Desktop (Windows only)
MS Visio (Desktop), which is included in Visio Plan 2 subscription, is available through CMF.
- Right-click CERN CMF icon, then Add/Remove CMF Packages and select MS Visio for Office 365.
If you can't install it from CMF (i.e. the computer is outside the CERN Network):
- Open Microsoft 365 home page and Sign in with your work or school account.
- Open the App launcher, and look for a button or link labeled "Install software" or go to "Apps & devices".
- Find Visio in the list of available apps and click "Install".
If Visio is not listed:
- It's possible that your Microsoft 365 subscription doesn't include Visio.
- You may need to request a license.
Is Mac users can subscribe for a Visio Plan 2?
Yes, Mac users can use Visio Plan 2, but not with a native macOS application. Visio is primarily a Windows-based application, but it can be accessed on Macs through the web browser using Visio for the web, which is included with Plan 2. Additionally, Mac users can access Visio Plan 2 by using virtual machine software to run Windows on their Macs, allowing them to install the desktop version of Visio.
